Hard to really know how to feel after that one. I half expected a draw, so not a bad result really, and we had a few players unfit or missing, so with the players we had available, again not a bad result, the way we played in the second half meant we got pretty much what we deserved...but just so frustrating to be so brilliant in the first half and not get a big enough lead to hold on to.

First half was really good. Dominated possession, killed the atmosphere from the home fans, created chances, we really couldnt have done much more but score more, but then credit to Schmeichel for a couple of good saves. McGeady gave us the lead we deserved with an absolutely beautiful pinpoint finish. A corner was half cleared to Distin, Schmeichel made a brilliant save from his shot, but McGeady picked up the loose ball and found the net off the far post. But then we did what Everton do, and having restricted Leicester to virtually nothing going forward, conceded a cheap corner, Distin fired his clearance right against Ulloa, who volleyed the loose ball home. We nearly retook the lead instantly through Naismith, but the ball was judged to have gone out of play on the build up. McGeady had further chances to retake the lead, a couple of half chances were fluffed, before right on half time, Naismith swept in a low cross off the underside of the bar. Even at that stage I felt we needed a third goal to really see them off, as our defence had looked nervous all day, even under little pressure. We carried on where we left off until about the last 25 minutes, only Leicester had closed the gaps at the back and for all our possession, we never really created anything, and Lukaku was starting to look knackered now, so a big surprise he wasnt subbed. Leicester started to push in the last 15 minutes or so, missing a free hewder, and Schlupp skying a one on one with pretty much his first touch. It was starting to look inevitable, and so it was when we conceded possession in the Leicester half, they broke forward and had players pretty much queueing up to put it away. In the end, it was Chris Wood who did. Too little too late, we pushed for a winner after the goal, but it was too late, Naismith coming closest, having the goal at his mercy only for a defender to put in a last ditch interception and our best chance was gone.

Everton Man of the Match

Steven Pienaar. He can be the most frustrating player we have on a bad day, but on a good day like today, he never stops, is massively creative, and the heart of everything good we do. Probably his best performance for a couple of years.
