Transfers

Has this been the best 3 days of a transfer window Everton have ever had? On Monday...

Muhamed Besic

Ferencvaros to Everton

£4 million

The Blues finally completed the signing of Bosnian World Cup midfielder Muhamed Besic for a bargain £4 million. He can play at centre half too, but our central midfield is looking pretty damn sexy now with him, Barry, Gibson, McCarthy, Osman and Barkley, along with possibly Mirallas, Naismith and Pienaar to cover the position. Speaking of Ross Barkley, on Tuesday he signed a new 4 year contract, putting paid to any speculation of him signing for Man City this summer. And just when thought things couldnt get better on Wednesday, it happened...

Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea to Everton

£28 million

Yep, theres no typo here. Everton spent a club record £20 million plus on a player, and a damn good one that we all wanted too! Big Rom scored 16 goals on loan here last season and has been the number one target all summer long. And given some of the fees other clubs have spent this summer, £28 million is an absolute snip.

Now...absolutely gutted Im working on Sunday and wont be at the Porto game!

New Away Kit/ Transfers

Boring summer so far, just an endless stream of rumours. Pre season kicked off last week with a 2-2 draw against Tranmere at Prenton Park on Tuesday, and continues this weekend with a game against Leicester in Thailand, where we will wear the new black away kit.

We should also complete the signing of Bosnian midfielder Muhammed Besic over the weekend, as it is pretty much all but done and he has travelled to Thailand with the squad but wont play...I still never quite trust Everton with these things so lets not have that as a confirmed transfer just yet...

Transfers- Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry

Manchester City to Everton

Free Transfer

Not strictly a free transfer, since we apparently made a deal with City when we signed him on loan last season to pay a fee if we signed him permanently, but still, after the season he had last year, a great first signing. An absolutely crucial part in our successful season, his experience and partnership with James McCarthy were the foundation of everything we did, our shape, formation, style of play, everything hinged on these two. Endeared himself to Everton fans pretty much immediately, with a goal saving challenge on Samuel Eto'o on his debut, a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

World Cup Quarter Finals

Argentina 1-0 Belgium

So the dream is over. Kevin Mirallas started the game as Belgium lost narrowly to Argentina who reached the semi finals for the first time since 1990. Gonzalo Higuain scored the only goal, a lovely little half volley as early as the 8th minute of the game and Belgium just didnt have enough to come back. Bryan Oviedo's Costa Rica finally saw their dream end too, losing on penalties to Holland after a 0-0 draw.

So just 7 days and 4 games left of the 2014 World Cup. At least after, its just 9 days until proper football is back...Tranmere pre season!

World Cup 2nd Round

Belgium 2-1 United States of America AET

Well...that was a bit epic wasnt it? And had Everton all over it! From former Blue Marouane Fellaini clearly doing something to upset bitter Kopite commentator Danny Murphy, and getting involved in everything, Tim Howard making a World Cup record 15 saves in the match to keep on denying Belgium, Kevin Mirallas coming on as a sub and giving Belgium much more life in the second half, before at lastm the final word went to former 9and hopefully future?) Blue Romelu Lukaku. Came on as a sub at the start of extra time, and by half time, set up Kevin De Bruyne, and scoring a second himself. US sub Julian Green pulled one back for the USA early in extra time second half to set up an epic last 10 minutes, but it was the Belgians who went through to face Argentina in the Quarter Finals on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Howard has spawned a meme all of his own, get a look at #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave! And just to round off a symmetrical couple of day, our pther right back, Tony Hibbert has signed a 2 year contract extension.
